Sony Ericsson today announced the T715 slider phone, available in the third quarter. According to Marketing Business Manager Quentin Cordier, this mid-range handset is for busy lifestyle users looking for a phone with practical up-to-date features. This compact credit card-sized phone has neither CyberShot nor Walkman, but it is 3G-capable with preinstalled Google Maps and Accuweather, 2.2-inch display, 3.2 MP camera with Photo light, FM radio, media player and 90MB storage with MicroSD expansion. Not the Memory Stick. The premium brushed aluminium shell and glossy front makes a complementary packaging. Price is still undisclosed, but mid-range is the keyword here.

After announcing the Satio for October this year, Sony Ericsson will also ship the Aino at around the same time. Main highlights? It comes with Remote Play, which allows remote control and media access to your PlayStation 3. It can also access PlayTV on your PS3, which allows folks in Italy, France, Spain, Germany and the UK to enjoy a huge range of free TV channels on the handset. And it debuts the Media Home application, which syncs media content with your PC via Media Go. And still others in the long list of highlights are an 8.1MP camera, A2DP stereo Bluetooth, motion gaming, PictBridge and microSD support. Wonder if someday we can play our PS3 games from half a world away…

One rumor that refuses to die is the rumor of a PSP (PlayStation Portable) Phone by Sony. Now it looks like Sony Ericsson President Hideki Komiyama might have just reignited the rumors, as he has been quoted as saying that no plan is too crazy or far-fetched to consider, and a PlayStation-branded phone “could happen”. Will it become a reality?

In the current economic climate, it isn’t too surprising to see that Sony Ericsson is struggling a little. Ericsson CEO, Carl-Henric Svanberg, might be giving out some negative vibes though, especially since he has been quoted as saying that Sony would be a logical buyer of Ericsson’s stake in the joint venture, though he also pointed out that there are currently no sale discussions taking place. Still, the fact that people are considering such scenarios does make some people worry about the future of Sony Ericsson.

We’ve all seen and toyed with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, but not many people actually buy the phone, with one of the main reasons being its insane price. There is some rumblings that the device was a sort of “experiment” by Sony Ericsson, but it certainly isn’t bringing Sony Ericsson too much joy at the moment, is it? The good news is that Sony Ericsson is still planning to oust 3 smartphones by the end of the year. One Windows Mobile, one Android and one Symbian. How’s that for being fair?

Are you fond of Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X1? Well, if you’re fond of it, you’ll certainly be looking forward to the next in line (in the series), which is most likely the X2. A twitter post from Sony Ericsson marketing guru, Harold de Kort, says (after translation) “Of course after each X1 is an X2 and X3, X4, X5. What else is new. “

Want to show off a Sony Ericsson Idou before it’s launched? While you might certainly have quite a bit of trouble getting hold of an actual demo unit, let alone own it, you could always go for the cloned version of the device, which is the Sonia F2. This device, which doesn’t even sound remotely like the Idou, is powered by Google’s Android instead of Symbian. Aside from the operating system, it sports a 1.3-megapixel camera, despite listing a 12.1 megapixel count on the back cover. Would you want this phone, warts and all?
