We all know that Acer, currently the world’s third largest computer manufacturer, is getting ready to announce new smartphones at MWC 2009.
Well, it looks like the Taiwanese company wasn’t able to keep the upcoming handsets from leaking onto the Web, as two of them have appeared today on the Vietnamese website Tinh Te.
The first one, Acer DX650, is a dual-faced device that runs on Windows Mobile and comes with two displays. Unfortunately, these are nothing to get excited about: a QVGA touchscreen display and a 128 x 96 pixels monochrome one. The side with the small display also has an alphanumeric keyboard:

The features of Acer DX650 apparently include:
Acer X960, the second leaked smartphone, looks better than the DX650 and it also comes with better specs.

The X960 offers the following:
There’s no info yet regarding the availability of Acer DX650 and Acer X960, but we’ll probably find out more about the handsets at MWC 2009.

Helio Ocean 2, the handset that’s been in the rumor mill since the spring of 2007, could be finally released this quarter.
You probably already know that, following the Virgin Mobile acquisition, Helio is now known as Helio by Virgin Mobile. In consequence, the Ocean 2 will come out under this brand.
Silicon Alley Insider says that, according to a Virgin Mobile rep, the new Ocean might go on sale starting February.
Like the first-generation Ocean, Helio Ocean 2 will have a QWERTY and an alphanumeric keyboard. Apart from that, it’s said that the handset also sports a QVGA display, 3G connectivity, full HTML browser and external memory slot.
No word yet about the price of Helio Ocean 2, but, hopefully, this won’t be a high one. Otherwise, I don’t think the handset will stand a chance against the likes of Palm Pre, BlackBerry Bold or T-Mobile G1.

The Federal Communications Commission has recently approved a new Motorola phone, a clamshell that appears with the FCC ID IHDP56JM2.
Unfortunately, the handset’s official name is not known for the moment, and neither are details about its release.
What we do know is that the new clamshell seems to be a mid-end device. It has external music dedicated keys, Bluetooth, a photo camera (probably of at least 2MP) and a flat alphanumeric keyboard.
Here’s what the phone looks like:

Apparently, there will be two versions of the phone available: one with 800 / 1900 MHz CDMA connectivity, and one with support for MetroPCS and Cricket’s 1700 MHz AWS frequencies.
Motorola will probably announce the clamshell in the near future and we’ll be here to let you know when this happens.
