Looking out for a CDMA BlackBerry Pearl Flip? Well, a device that would fit the bill has just paid the FCC a visit, and it supports CDMA and EV-DO on the 850 and 1900MHz bands. Still think that the CDMA Blackberry Pearl Flip is a myth? Yeah, we didn’t think so. Hopefully it won’t take too long for the device to be approved as we’ve been expecting the device to be available via Verizon and Telus in the near future.

Canadian carrier is vying to be the first carrier to launch the CDMA version of the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230. While the 8220 has Wi-Fi, the ones that we’re got today are busy working on GPS instead. Until March 12th, the device will be able to maintain its attractive $29.95 if you agree to a 3-year contract pricing.

Bell Mobility, Canada’s largest CDMA carrier, has launched two new smartphones manufactured by Palm and RIM respectively: Palm Treo Pro and BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230, the latter coming in black and pink.
While the US still doesn’t have the CDMA versions of said handsets, Canadian mobile users can buy any of them as of today.
Bell offers the Palm Treo Pro for as low as $99.95 and the Pearl Flip for only $29.95 – both prices are available only with the signing of a 3-yr contract agreement, of course.
Free of contract, the Treo Pro costs $549.95, while RIM’s clamshell is priced at $499.95.
Both smartphones come with QWERTY keyboards and they can be found on Bell’s official website – you can go here for the Treo Pro and here for the Pearl Flip.

At a glance, Nokia’s E55 is quite similar to the E75, though it’s much lighter due to the lack of the sideways-sliding QWERTY keyboard. Just because Nokia ditched the sideways-sliding keyboard doesn’t mean that there isn’t a QWERY keyboard for you, as Nokia has taken a form factor similar to the BlackBerry Pearl where there are 2 alphabetical letters on each key. The only downside of this phone is its relatively low resolution 320 x 240 screen, which only serves to make its 470 Euro price tag seem expensive. Aside from that, features of the device include:
S60 Platform
HSDPA, Wi-Fi b/g
116×49x9.9mm, 98g
28 days of battery life in stand-by mode (Nokia’s numbers)
2.4-inch display (320×240)
60MB of internal memory, 2GB micro-SD included (16GB max)
3.2 MP camera
3.5mm audio jack
2 Colors: White and Aluminum

Want a new color for the BlackBerry Pearl Flip? Well, pictures of the device clad in white have appeared online, hinting that we’ll be seeing a white version of this device sometime in the near future, if not at MWC 2009, which is just around the corner.

Hey there, Verizon Wireless customers, wouldn’t you like to know what handsets your carrier is preparing to launch in the next few months?
Well, we’re now sure about four of Verizon’s upcoming devices: HTC Touch Diamond, LG 9600 Versa, Nokia 7205 Intrigue and BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 – all of which have just appeared in a promo flyer leaked by Engadget.
Basically a keyboardless version of HTC Touch Pro (which is available at Verizon since November 2008), HTC Touch Diamond is a slim Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone that will appeal to those who prefer a stylish device rather than one with a hardware QWERTY keyboard. It’s said that the Diamond will hit the shelves in March, but pricing details are currently missing.

LG 9600 Versa (we saw it in some live shot, not long ago) should be released at about the same time with HTC’s Diamond. Unfortunately, its price is also unknown.
Nokia 7205 Intrigue looks to be an elegant mid-end clamshell. It’s not clear yet when it will be launched, but it shouldn’t take long until this happens.
And finally, BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 (the CDMA version of Flip 8220) completes the picture, although exact details about its release are still out of our reach.

Not long after releasing the Palm Centro, Bell is now said to bring the Treo Pro to Canada too.
More exactly, the Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone might be available starting February 26.
MobileSyrup has it that the handset could cost $199.95 with a 3-yr contract agreement and a monthly plan of at least $45.
Not exactly an affordable price (compared to the one of Centro – $49.95), but I guess those who really want the Treo Pro will buy it anyway.

In other news about Bell, the second largest Canadian carrier might also release the following handsets:
Not bad at all, I’d say. Now let’s wait for the official confirmation about all these devices.

Although most handset manufacturers declared rather weak sales lately, Research In Motion has proudly announced that its net subscriber account additions for the fiscal fourth quarter (which ends on February 28, 2009) is higher than expected.
As such, the maker of BlackBerry smartphones believes that the net subscriber account additions for said period may be about 20% higher than the 2.9 million additions initially estimated. So we’re looking at about 3.5 million new BlackBerry subscribers in the last four months.
The good results were driven by the holiday buying season, but also by the post-holiday season, when RIM’s new devices (BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Curve 8900, BlackBerry Pearl Flip) continue to attract many customers from North America and other international markets.
However, the Canadian company, which sold the 50 millionth BlackBerry handset last month, says that the higher than expected subscriber account additions do not reflect its financial performance. Which could mean it has profits lower than estimated – but I guess it’s all good as long as they do have a profit.

Excited about RIM’s upcoming Application Center for your Blackberry? Depending on which BlackBerry device you’re using, there might be some bad news for you. According to some information online, it seems that the Application Center currently only supports the BlackBerry Bold and OS 4.7 (which is what the BlackBerry Storm uses). That doesn’t sound too nice a move, especially when you take into account the number of BlackBerry Pearl, Curve and other users out there. Considering that Apple and Google already have their online application stores up and running, limited the support to certain hardware configurations might not be the smartest move by RIM.
