The FCC has recently approved a new Nokia phone that’s almost surely going to be released by AT&T in the US.
We’re talking about the Nokia 6750 Mural, which comes as a clamshell that works on the 850/1900 UMTS bands.
Somewhat similar to the Nokia 6650 that AT&T launched in November 2008, the new 6750 comes with two displays, a glossy finish and external music-dedicated keys. It also has a 2MP camera with flash, Bluetooth and MicroSD card support, up to 8GB.
The phone’s Users Manual confirms that AT&T will carry the Nokia 6650, since it includes stuff like MEdia Net and Video Share.
It’s not clear yet if the 6650 runs on Symbian S40, or on Symbian S60. I guess we’ll have to wait for its official release in order to find out.

Nokia fans stateside might be in for a treat, as an unknown dual-sliding CDMA Nokia phone has shown its face in the FCC filing. There isn’t a name on the device yet, but it certainly looks like it could belong in Nokia’s N-series lineup. The phone will sport a 3-megapixel camera, microSD card expansion, 3.5mm headphone jack, EV-DO Rev. A and Bluetooth 2.0. There isn’t any indication of whether the device will be using S40 or S60, so we’ll have to wait and see how that turns out.

Will we all be receiving promotional material and information via Bluetooth in the future? It certainly looks like things will be moving in that direction as T-Mobile has just announced that it’s trying out Bluetooth as part of a campaign to encourage more people to enter its stores. The project will be piloted at six stores across the country, and folks who pass by will be prompted to enable Bluetooth on their mobiles phones in order to receive T-Mobile offers and deals, which are considered proximity marketing. Would you welcome such marketing methods in the future, or do you think that proximity marketing is unethical? Drop us a comment to let us know what you think.

I am not sure if it’s a good thing or bad, but Motorola is just not able to let go of it’s years old successful handset models, churning out cosmetic update, after update, after update.
Today it’s time for Motorola Ming A1200, which was wildly successful in China few years ago.
And it comes in the form of Motorola A1210 Linux based handset.
It is still the same tri-band 2.5G GSM/EDGE phone with no support for 3G. But the new MotoMing will come with a bigger 2.8” 240×400px touchscreen display and 3.1 megapixel camera.

Other Motorola A1210 specs include TI OMAP850 CPU, 64MB of built-in memory, microSD memory card slot, FM Radio, Bluetooth, USB. It weights 125g and is 102 x 53.8 x 20.5mm in size.
Motorola A1210 is headed for China and nowhere else for now.

Tethering is one of the more interesting aspects of mobile phones these days. Despite carriers charging more for the service, it’s still a very useful thing to have. iPhone owners have probably been screaming for the feature for almost as long as the “copy/paste” complaint has been around. Now a developer who has been going through the iPhone 3.0 seems to have stumbled upon the gem which is a tethering setting within the iPhone 3.0 software. He even managed to tether his iPhone 3G to his laptop via USB, and if you check out the preference panel, it indicates that we’ll be able to tether the iPhone via Bluetooth as well. Apple has admitted that they built in tethering support for the 3.0 release, but have not coordinated it with mobile carriers yet.

It seems that the LG VX11000 has paid a visit to the FCC to gain its approval. Despite its rather long name, there isn’t much information available on the device, aside that it’s a CDMA phone with Bluetooth and EV-DO. It looks like we’ll have to play the waiting game to find out the full details of this upcoming phone. Stay tuned!
