Samsung has announced a rugged hand phone for the adventurer in you. The B2100 Xplorer (it has a loud speakerphone) has been IP57 certified for ingress protection against water (up to 1 meter for 30 minutes), dust, hot and cold temperatures, even salt fog. In addition to being a quad-band GSM/EDGE candybar device, it has impressive features that include noise cancellation, FM Radio, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, 1.3-megapixel camera, microSD card support and even a flashlight. Samsung intends to aggressively ”xplore” and scale the European markets with this rugged Xplorer.

Latest reports indicate that Sony Ericsson is going put its focus camera phones this year, which will certainly mean a strong emphasis on its C905 Cybershot camera phone. The quad-band GSM/EDGE radio on the device makes it compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile’s networks. Sony Ericsson seems to be banking that high-end photography will convince consumers to buy a new phone to replace their digital cameras; do you think that it’s a viable move in this economic situation?

This might not be good news to folks who already own a BlackBerry Bold, but it seems that RIM has released a quad-band BlackBerry Bold in Japan recently. As mentioned, the device supports the 2100, 1900, 850 and 800MHz bands of UMTS/HSDPA. T-Mobile customers might start gnashing their teeth when they read this, especially if they were already complaining about the Bold’s lack of AWS 3G. Is the quad-band feature important to you, or are you satisfied with your BlackBerry Bold as it currently is? Drop us a comment to let us know.

I’m not sure how many of you expected this (there were no leaks, nor rumors whatsoever), but HTC has just unveiled, at MWC 2009, two brand new smartphones: HTC Touch Diamond2 and HTC Touch Pro2.
Needless to say, the new devices are meant to replace the highly-popular Touch Diamond and Touch Pro.
In consequence, they come with a revamped design, as well as more features, including HTC’s Push Internet technology – according to the company, this “alleviates slow downloading and rendering of Web pages on a mobile phone. Users can preselect their favorite Websites to get immediate access to them when needed.”
Now let’s meet the HTC Touch Diamond2 better.
The Taiwanese manufacturer decided to lose the diamond-like back-cover, widen the display, add a better camera and so on.
The result? Take a look for yourself:

Here’s what HTC Touch Diamond2 has to offer:
HTC Touch Pro2 has a more rounded design than the original Touch Pro, and it obviously comes with a full QWERTY keyboard. A cool thing is that its display tilts up – just like on the HTC TyTN II (aka AT&T Tilt).
With Touch Pro2, HTC introduces Straight Talk – a new technology aimed at delivering “an integrated email, voice and speakerphone experience”. The technology further provides “high-fidelity voice and sound experience enhanced by asymmetric speakers and advanced noise suppression with full duplex acoustics.”

The display of Pro2 is a 3.6 inch one with a 480 x 800 resolution. Its camera has 3.2MP, while its battery is a 1500 mAh one. Other than that, the smartphone’s features are similar to the ones of Touch Diamond2.
HTC Touch Diamond2 will be available starting the second quarter of 2009, while HTC Touch Pro2 should go on sale starting this summer. Their prices have not been announced yet.

AT&T and LG have just released the LG CF360, a mobile phone targeted at customers in need of some new affordable wireless equipment.
Presented as being a “sleek entertainment phone”, the CF360 is a slider that doesn’t look bad at all, but packs only entry-level features.
With a 2-yr contract agreement and after a mail-in rebate, the phone’s price is of only $29.99. Or, in case a new AT&T agreement is the last thing you desire, you can get the phone free of contract, for $229.99.

But enough about money. Here are the main specs and features of AT&T’s new LG:

LG CF360 is available in AT&T’s retails stores from across the US, as well as online: here in red, or here in blue.

Pharos Traveler 117 has been around for some time, but it’s only now that it got FCC’s approval for being used in the US.
Built by Inventec, the PDA phone runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and comes with a pretty nice set of features – from advanced GPS capabilities to a high-res display.
Moreover, it looks quite nice too, so it might be a good alternative for any of the touchscreen handsets that are currently being sold on the US market.

Traveler 117’s full list of specs and features looks like this:
It seems that Pharos Traveler 117 can already be bought, unlocked, from the official Pharos website. Its price is of $529.95.

HTC’s new version of the Touch Cruise is looking pretty. You might have previously seen pictures of it under its codename – Iolite. The phone can double up as an in-car navigation system, which is rather obvious seeing that there is a cradle included. The phone has features such as GPS, A-GPS, quad-band GSM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, microSD slot and 3.2 megapixel camera, though the coolest feature is probably the new HTC Footprints software which uses geotagging, allowing you to take notes, audio clips and the GPS location data and embed them into a “postcard” of sorts. The phone will be going for $500 to $600 for an unlocked version, which should be available in Q2 2009.

The BlueBerry an obvious imitation of the BlackBerry, and takes the form of the BlackBerry Bold. With just $164.99, you can get this quad-band GSM phone with a QVGA display, microSD slot, and dual SIM slots.

LG’s music phones (like the KM500 and KM710) are not what you’d call high-end devices. They have ordinary displays and they lack 3G, Wi-Fi and many other capabilities.
However, the South Korean company is preparing a new handset from the KM series (thus music-oriented) that will come with both 3G and Wi-Fi.
LG KM900 is the name of the phone, and details about it have been published by LG itself.
The KM900 was approved by the FCC for the 850 / 1900 GSM frequencies (info found via Engadget), so I assume it’s a quad-band GSM phone. On the 3G side, the phone surely supports UMTS and HSDPA, but it’s not clear yet on which frequencies.
Anyway, being a successor of KM500 and KM710, LG KM900 might look something like this (it’s a mockup, of course):

The known features of KM900 include:
A 3.5mm headset jack could be in there too, since the KM500 and KM710 have it.
An LG KM900F also appears on LG’s website – it’s probably a regional version of KM900. Also, rumors about a GT500 and a GT810H have popped up, so we might soon see a big announcement coming from LG.
