2.5G LG Renoir KC910E headed for China

LG Renoir KC910 has been available in Europe since the end of last year, and now a Chinese version has appeared on LG’s official website.

Called LG Renoir KC910E, the new phone lacks 3G, so it only provides tri-band GSM connectivity (900/1800/1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE.

Of course, the rest of its features, as well as its design, are similar to the ones of the 3G Renoir

So Chinese users will find in the KC910E a 3 inch touchscreen display with 240 x 400 pixels, an 8MP autofocus camera with Xenon flash, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth  2.0 with A2DP, MicroSD card support and so on.

The retail price of LG Renoir KC910E should be of around 3,200 CNY ($470).

  • Without much fanfare, Nokia has just announced its newest Eseries smartphone, the Nokia E52.

If you expect a revolutionary design from the E52, don’t. The new phone is just an E55 without a QWERTY keypad. So, yeah, it’s a slim candybar with a 2.4 inch QVGA display.

Like the E55, Nokia E52 is said to have an “impressive battery life” which should provide a talk-time of up to 8 hours with a single full-charge. It also comes with GPS, a 3.2MP camera, Ovi Services, noise cancellation and “the new email UI from the Nokia E75”.

Moreover, Nokia E52 supports HSDPA for up to 10.2Mbps and HSUPA for up to 2Mbps.

The handset has two color versions, silver and brown (like the 5MP E71i, perhaps):

Nokia said the E52 would be available starting the second half of the year, for a retail price of around €245 ($325).

  • Samsung M2510 – low-end music phone

Alongside Samsung’s first Android smartphone and the company’s new touchscreen handset line-up, the Samsung M2510 may not look that impressive.

And that’s logical, since we’re talking about an entry-level slider, targeted at users who don’t want to spend too much on a music-oriented handset

The M2510 comes with some funky music-dedicated keys, a small alphanumeric keypad and a 2 inch QVGA display. Also, it has MP3 player, FM radio, Bluetooth, USB and a VGA photo camera.

The phone looks really nice, and this will probably help it stand out.

    samsung-m2510

No details yet on when Samsung M2510 will hit the market, and neither on its retail price (but this will surely not be a high one).

  • The Samsung B2100 candybar that we first saw back in January has just been officially announced, under the name of Samsung Xplorer.

You may already know that the B2100 is a rugged device (like the B2700), thus ‘Xplorer’ is a worthy name for it.

The phone is compliant with Military Standard 810F, being resistant to shock, dust and extreme temperature. It’s also IP57 certified, so it can last up to 30 minutes underwater (at a maximum depth of 1-metter) without being damaged.

Here are the handset’s main specs:

    • Quad band GSM connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) with EDGE
    • 1.8 inch TFT display with 120 x 160 pixels
    • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP
    • Music player
    • FM radio with RDS
    • 1.3MP camera with flash and video recording
    • 7MB of internal memory
    • MicroSD card support
    • 113 x 49.5 x 17.2 mm
    • 103 grams

Samsung B2100 Xplorer will be available across Europe starting April. Its official retail price is not known for the moment, but previous reports said it would be of around 100 Euros.

  • Nokia 5330 XpressMusic, the new slider officially announced last week, will apparently be released by T-Mobile – probably in both the US and Europe.

The phone was recently spotted in a black/blue color version (unseen until now), with T-Mobile’s logo on it.

According to Cell Phone Signal, this version should be introduced in the US in June or July.

T-Mo USA already has two XpressMusic handsets (5310 and 5610), and the new 5330 should be a perfect replacement for them.

    nokia-5330-t-mobile1

Nokia said the 5330 would have a retail price of 160 Euros ($210), so let’s hope that, with a contract agreement, the slider will be offered by T-Mobile for under $100.

The features of 5330 (plus a hands-on video) can be seen here.

  • Philips Xenium X700 shows up

Only few days after we saw the Philips Xenium X530, we now have info about another new Philips clamshell: the Xenium X700

Like most (if not all) Philips handsets, the X700 does not have 3G connectivity, so your data transfers will have to rely only on GPRS and EDGE.

However, there’s one big advantage that the phone offers - and that’s obviously the powerful battery, which can last up to 720 hours in stand-by (1 month), or up to 450 minutes in talk-time mode.

Here’s what the handset looks like:

    philips-x700

    philips-x700-2

The main specs and features of Xenium X700 include:

    • Quad-band GSM connectivity
    • 2.4 inch TFT internal display with 240 x 320 pixels and 262K colors
    • 2.0 inch TFT external QVGA display
    • 3.2MP camera
    • Music / video player
    • Bluetooth 2.0
    • FM radio with RDS
    • 103 x 54 x 15 mm

Philips Xenium X700 should be soon available in China and select European countries (like Russia, Romania and Turkey). Its retail price is said to be of around €170 ($220).

  • Back in October 2008, when we first heard about Sony Ericsson Athena, we didn’t know its official name (Athena is obviously a codename).

Now it looks like the Snapshot candybar will come as Sony Ericsson S312 and, as previously reported, it should be introduced as the successor of S302.

Details about the features of S312 are scarce for the moment, but we do know that it should have a 176 x 220 display and a non-autofocus camera – possibly with more than 2 Megapixels.

    sony-ericsson-s312

(this is not the S312, since there’s no image with it yet; it’s just the S302)

It’s said that Sony Ericsson will be on sale starting the third quarter of 2009. Its retail price is not known for the moment, but it will probably be an affordable one.

  • Rumors about an Apple netbook have been floating around since last year, although the Cupertino company has said/done nothing to confirm it will actually launch such a product.

Now it looks like a netbook with the iconic fruit logo on it might be outed as soon as the third quarter of 2009 – according to DigiTimes

Even more, Apple’s first netbook is said to have “touch panels” that will be supplied by the Taiwan-based Wintek.

The netbook will be built for Apple by Quanta Computer, which also works with Acer, Alienware, Dell, HP, Sony, Lenovo, Toshiba and so on.

(this is the Apple aluminum MacBook)

Considering that Apple’s cheapest laptop – the white 13-inch MacBook – costs $999, the company’s netbook may have a retail price between $500 and $800. But that’s just speculation, so let’s wait until something official about this will come from Apple.

1 Million LG Arena Phones Pre-ordered

LG’s Arena KM900 has only been officially announced about a month ago, but it certainly seems like it has a good future ahead of it. The reason we say so is because reports are coming in that there are already more than 1 million KM900’s that have been pre-ordered by various carriers around the world, indicating that this phone might enjoy a level of success similar to the LG Chocolate, Shine and Viewty – which sold more than 10 million units each. The KM900 boasts a 3-9inch WVGA touchscreen display, 3D S-Class UI, 8-megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi and 8GB of internal memory. There isn’t any information on the retail price just yet, but it should be revealed within the next few weeks when it goes on sale across Europe.
