Verizon Wireless is now offering the Samsung Trance for $49.99 if you agree to a 2-year contract. This slider phone looks rather stylish, and it’s a music oriented device, though unfortunately it cuts back on other features. The device lacks 3G and only has a 1.3 megapixel camera and microSD card slot. The good news is that it has a Bang & Olufsen ICEpower amp technology, which you’ll certainly want to test out. You’ll be given the choice of black, or red with black accents. Take your pick.

Folks who have been looking to fully activate the GPS feature in the Samsung Omnia i910 from Verizon Wireless. An updated ROM that is currently available online does just that, so if you’re thinking of updating the ROM on your Samsung Omnia, you can check out the details here. As usual, do remember that unofficial ROMs are supported by your carrier, so update at your own risk.

Verizon’s version of the LG enV3 has been spotted, and as usual, it’s blurry. At a glance, there doesn’t seem to be too much different from the enV3, though upon closer inspection, you can see some minor differences such as the numeric keypad, QWERTY layout that has been tweaked a bit and the upgraded camera which is now a 3-megapixel module. This phone might not be for everyone, but it certainly has its fans.

First seen way back in November 2008, AT&T’s Nokia E71x is now finally official – although not yet available for purchase.
The S60 Eseries smartphone is featured on the North American carrier’s website as “coming soon”, and AT&T says you will be able to buy it in a few weeks. After a mail-in rebate and with the signing of a 2-yr contract agreement, Nokia E71x will cost only $99 (cheaper than Verizon’s Nokia 7205 Intrigue).
Save for the fact that the E71x comes in a black case, there aren’t too many differences between it and the E71 that can already be purchased via the Nokia USA website.
Of course, there’s the AT&T branding, AT&T firmware (which includes AT&T Navigator) and the subsidized price ($99 vs. the $359 no-contract price).
All in all, there will probably be many happy AT&T customers after the Nokia E71x becomes available.

Word on the street is that folks looking for a new BlackBerry to replace their current device (whatever it may be) will certainly have cause to celebrate, as it seems that Verizon Wireless will be releasing the BlackBErry 9630 Niagara in May. Of course, there hasn’t been any official word on this just yet, but rumors have to start somewhere, right? There is even speculation that the device will be announced during WES, which is in May, which certainly sounds like a possibility. There isn’t any information on pricing yet, so stay tuned!

Opera Mini and Opera Mobile are currently Europe’s most popular mobile web browsers, and, apparently, Opera wants to conquer the US too.
According to Forbes, the Norway-based software developer wants to make a big announcement during CTIA Wireless 2009 (April 1-3, Las Vegas).
More exactly, Opera plans to unveil several major deals with North American carriers.
The carriers are not known for the moment, but they’re probably among the giant ones – AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or T-Mobile.
It’s not clear yet if, following said deals, the US carriers will pre-load one of Opera’s mobile browsers on their phones. But that wouldn’t be a bad thing, right?
We’ll bring more on this as soon as new details pop up.

Far from being RIM’s best kept secret, BlackBerry Niagara 9630 has appeared in several leaked photos until now, and even in a blurry video.
About one month ago, some rumors said the new smartphone would be introduced by Verizon Wireless sometime in May 2009, and it looks like this will indeed happen.
According to The Street, “analysts familiar with the plan” have confirmed the May release, although an exact launch date and a price are still not known.
The 9630 would come to replace Verizon’s BlackBerry Curve 8330, which is currently offered by the giant CDMA carrier for as low as $99.
It’s said the BlackBerry Niagara 9630 has both CDMA and GSM connectivity, so it may be launched in Europe too, via Vodafone (the global mobile operator that owns E of Verizon).

Motorola’s QA4 has paid a visit to the FCC, and from the draft user manual available, it seems the phone will have video capture, aGPS, EVDO, stereo Bluetooth, YouTube and Picasa features, not to mention a touchscreen. The device hasn’t been officially announced by Motorola or any carrier just yet, but it can operate on the wireless networks that are offered by Sprint, Verizon and MetroPCS.

Drooling over the upcoming BlackBerry 9630 Niagara? Well, you certainly won’t be the only one, judging by the $1995 price that somebody on eBay was willing to fork over for the device. As mentioned, a BlackBerry 9630 which managed to escape from RIM appeared on eBay, but only managed to last about 4 hours till it was snapped up for said figure. The BlackBerry 9630 is rumored to be heading for Verizon and Sprint in Q3 this year, and should be the CDMA alternative to the BlackBerry Bold 9000, sans Wi-Fi.
